The Walking Dead: A New Frontier + The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Clementine takes a backseat with Season 3, and you now play as Javier, brother and uncle towards the Garcia family, who will soon get in trouble for stealing gasoline, and that's when the troubles will only grow larger.

A New Frontier offers other than a new story with a new cast, nothing else new to the table. The episodic format remains intact, as well as the dialogue choices, of which some of them will provide different consequences depending on what you choose.

The quick time events return, and by this point, they are starting to feel outdated. Interaction with the environment and objects remains uncommon, as the core feature remains the story, the characters and their voice acting.

The brotherhood of Javier and David was the most interesting relationship happening for me here, other characters, not so much. Still, Richmond, or The New Frontier, sounded like a good promise, but manipulation and betrayal got it destroyed eventually.

Season 3 is more of the same, and the walkers with their gore and the human drama keep it worth playing.

Rating: 7.3

The Final story of Clementine unfolds, and sadly Telltale Games too, until they got bailed out by a different company in regards to intellectual properties and branding soon after. After this, it seems that point and click adventure games are put on hold for now.

Clementine and AJ have grown up further, and she basically is acting like the new Lee in here. The most crucial decisions will have AJ involved, and you will shape his personality and behavior the further the chapters go.

The school setting with the kids surviving and acting like child soldiers reminded me of Lord of the Flies, but then the raiders and walkers fucked it up further, resulting into something different. I also noticed that the camera work with over the shoulder perspective, and the tension in general, was better.

Bondwise, Clem and AJ turned out to be likable in the end. The Wind Chimes scene was also a creepy yet touching scene, as were of course some of the dramatic climaxes. The Walking Dead: The Final Season is a return to form, and it ends the Telltale series on a satisfying note.
