Luigi's Mansion 3

The green machine’s third ghostly adventure and the second console appearance, Luigi and friends are planning to stay at a hotel for a well deserved vacation after all of those previous adventures, but soon, things turn bad, and it’s up to Luigi to save the others from their portrait cages.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is more similar towards part 2 than the original, because both games have been developed by Next Level Games instead of Nintendo EAD.

Aside from blowing and sucking your way around capturing ghosts, or manipulating the environment with objects, he can also shoot suction shots to pull stuff, blind enemies with a chargeable flash move, or discover hidden items using his Dark Light beam.

This is the largest entry seen yet, aside from the multiplayer mode which I have yet to try, the hotel setting is structured in such a way so that there is a stream of linear and open ended gameplay involved.

Specifically this means that in order to progress the main story, you will have to find the next elevator button in order to reach a higher floor, these are usually found after defeating a boss. Or, you can start searching and hunting for 6 particular gems between each floor.

The theme and orientation of each floor is either a logical inclusion for such a large hotel building, or out there, such as an Egyptian and a Pirate themed floor being available. There is a lot of interactivity with the environment involved which encourages further exploration, and this has always been the best aspect of this franchise.

I still miss the puzzling aspect of how the portrait bosses of the original game had to be defeated kind of in here, but there is no mistake in the boss variety, these are entertaining. The normal ghost enemies aren’t much, but combined with the Boo’s and the environment, it doesn’t damage the fun factor.

Gooigi is a new game play feature where Luigi is able to reproduce a slimy goo version of himself which can mimic all of his moves and even slide between certain traversal objects in order to discover secrets or solve certain puzzles. Sometimes you will need both in order to win. The only downside is that Gooigi is susceptible and weak towards water, making it vaporize instantly.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is another great ghostly horror family adventure great for all ages!
