New Ghostbusters II

You know, we could cover the previous two Ghostbusters related NES video games, but we all know that this one is the best out of them.

New Ghostbusters II is a bird's eye action game developed by HAL Laboratory that because of license issues in North America regarding Activision, was only released in Japan and Europe in the early 90's.

Based on the Ghostbusters II movie from 1989, you can play the three doctors, Winston and a fifth character over the course of six stages, which are all based on the story involving a baby and an evil painting named Vigo, acting as the final boss.

The gameplay is simple; you will have to capture and entrap ghosts per room with either your buddy or your CPU, while a high score is present. A boss awaits at the end of each stage, and that's all there is to it, no extra gameplay is involved, no items, no power-ups, etc. .

Simplicity is perhaps the game's strong point, and the plot is also kept to a minimum. The soundtrack is faithful and spooky, and the sprites are cute and good. New Ghostbusters II is fairly beaten quickly, but if you are a fan of the movies or want to play a little ghostly game, this is for you.
