Doki Doki Literature Club!

An unusual visual novel that caught my attention after critics and audiences praised it. It’s a light heart dating sim at first with a poem mechanic that lets you score points with the 4 girls, until it starts getting creepy, disturbing and it will break the fourth wall.

Doki Doki Literature Club! might also be a social commentary of some kind, or at least criticism and skepticism towards the anime/manga industry, an opinion I share. Mainly that it's a repetitive medium and originality is rare.

The psychological horror is best seen when your control, as a gamer, is lost as the game’s engine and files twist and hack up the narrative and the script, as well as being unable to save certain characters from death, unless a hard reset would be used.

It also has glitchy scenes, uncomfortable poems, closeups and dreadful sounds playing the further you get with each play through. Doki Doki Literature Club! is nice and unexpected to experience, a two-faced game.
