Horror Icons

Where are they now?

Of course I have talked about all of these shady figures in the past, and they have become the faces of horror for several decades. Of course I also am aware of the horror icons before them, in particular the universal monsters Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy etc. , but for today, let's get back to the slashers first.

Let's start with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So far, it has gotten roughly 4 sequels, a remake, a sequel to that and a prequel to the 1974 original. In overall, I would give the franchise a rating of about ** stars, because only the first one and the remake stand out to me. Leatherface is a good boy. There are rumors going about to give it another remake.

Next, Halloween. So far, it has gotten about 6 direct sequels, a spinoff named Halloween III(originally, this franchise would focus on different premises), a remake, a sequel to that, and another direct sequel ignoring all of the previous entries, and I will watch this one at midnight. In overall, I would also give this about ** stars, because most of the movies are more of the same, and to be honest, I really like Halloween II the most out of them all. Michael Myers needs some love. With the current success, Halloween as a franchise will not go away any time soon.

As for Friday the 13th. So far, it has gotten more or less 9 frigging sequels, a crossover battle with Freddy, and a remake. Again, part 2 is my favorite of the bunch, introducing Jason Voorhees properly and having the best scares, although the twist(s) in the original are fun, and he starts putting on his iconic hockey mask with part 3(D). In overall, if we are talking about pure horror entertainment, I would give this *** stars. Jason is misunderstood. There are rumors going about to give it another remake.

Finally, A Nightmare on Elm Street. So far, it has gotten 5 sequels, a re-imagination, a crossover battle with Jason and a remake. It's hard to choose between the 1984 or Wes Craven's 1994 New Nightmare, but if I would rate this franchise then I would give it **** stars in overall, because I love the dream/nightmare concept so much, and each sequel has had creative horrors and deaths. Freddy is your favorite uncle, and recently, he was seen again during a specific TV episode, and the man himself Robert Englund has pointed out that he is in for one more go at the character.

Of course, other horror icons have risen up after these 4, but let's finish for now.
