Category III

A few years ago, I covered the most infamous Hong Kong CAT III movies in the post Disturbing Exploitations which are The Untold Story(1993) and Ebola Syndrome(1996). There's still a few of them I did not had the chance to talk about yet @Flok Factory:

Dr.Lamb
#425
Early Hong Kong crime horror.

First we are at the present, where Inspector Lee and his team arrest Dr.Lamb, a taxi driver who lusts for murdering on rainy nights. We get to learn that at childhood, he began to fear women, and later as an adult developed misogyny.

Like The Untold Story(1993), both have poor random English sentences, but in here it's even worse.

Torture interrogation also eh? Last time I clearly saw that was in Memories of Murder(2003). The gore is okay, aside from sliced breasts and arms, not much else is shown. There is also necrophilia involved. In overall it was almost an okay movie, but I guess some polish was missing.

Rating: 5.5

Red to Kill
#426

Infamous CAT III movie, and a dirty one at that. It involves a psycho rapist going crazy whenever he sees women wearing red clothes, all the while he is running a double life as the teacher of retarded children.

It also has the first Chinese Trial I have seen , reminding me heavily of Ace Attorney, what with all of the objecting. The case is difficult because it involves a mentally retarded victim trying to testify against the defendant, the rapist, but she has trouble doing so.

Hah, the prosecutor went pretty far with her, attempting everything to let the judge agree, interesting scene. Although his "evidence" was non existent and his witness was a joke.

Towards the end the rapist goes just insane, by wanting the retarded victim to be his wife, shaving his hair and making a loooot of noise when he wants to rape the social worker first because of her blocking the two of them.

In the end he dies a painful death, and the victim also sadly dies. In overall, it was worthwhile to watch. If you want to see a pretty sick movie, try Red to Kill.

Love to Kill
#427

Funny to see Anthony Wong looking at Arnold Schwarzenegger in here. Yes! Wong from The Untold Story is present once again, his face and behavior were memorable enough. And guess what, Danny Lee AKA Inspector Lee is AGAIN present, oh my god.

"IF THE VICTIM DIES YOU'LL BE CHARGED WITH MURDER!" First time I heard that I laughed out loud. Poor English is also once again present, even more humoristic and ridiculous than before.

The hospital scene with the mother is a bit strange, because the daughter does not call for help and then decides to kill her. And later on she attempts to suicide. Now both husband and wife are nasty. Wong also carries an awesome old school mobile telephone.

Lee gets involved with 2 women in his house including a dumb girlfriend and a prettier victim. Pretty erotic humor. Wong is an abusive husband, the likes of a man who goes crazy whenever their wife is surrounded by other men.

Lee is the cop who picks his wife away, haha. Wong is a bastard by raping his wife and messing with her mother. Another childhood trauma flashback like in Dr.Lamb, but even more extreme in my opinion.

More misogyny violence is also found here, and now I know why Love to Kill is better than Dr.Lamb. Because Anthony Wong is more scary than this "God told me to do it" doctor. The climax is a show alright, with a decapitation, irony of a birthday, a husband running with an axe and smashing a door ala The Shining and a thunderstorm.

If only the quality of this movie's graphics was better it would be even more interesting to see. And what happens next is just crazy, husband and wife fighting to the death. Husband gets fucked up a lot including a bullet in eye, sharp spikes on his arm and finally his neck impaled by a broken glass window.

In overall a good CAT III movie! Wong even reminds you during the credits of how he plays with his wife.

Rating: 6.5

 Seeding of a Ghost

This is the only CAT III movie I have seen in 2018. A Hong Kong taxi driver suffers after being cursed by a sorcerer he accidentally hit with his cab.

Seeding of a Ghost is a CAT III horror movie where most of the movie has average people, events and acting happening with gambling and nudity here and there, but it also has a rape scene, fights, human eating, vomit, supernatural possession stuff and plenty of exploitation.

The show really begins once you witness the last sequence of this film, which involves crazy 80’s special effects and crazy body horror, which is definitely worth seeing if you are a fan of The Thing(1982). Other than that, much of the movie is wacky yet forgettable.

Rating: 5.5

That's about it. I wonder if there are any noteworthy CAT III movies left?
