Mega Man 11

After a hiatus of 8 years, including numerous re-releases, during Capcom's resurgence, they have finally developed and released a new Mega Man game.

Mega Man 11 is the continuation of the classic series in the overall franchise, and the plot involves about the device known as the Double Gear system, which can enhance robots rapidly, but only for short bursts.

Dr.Wily is suddenly reminded of this as he and Dr.Light used to talk about it's potential during their university years, but the committee at that time concluded that it was too dangerous. Thomas's latest Robot Masters are corrupted by the Double Gear, and Albert labels them his latest Wily Numbers.

The gameplay is identical towards the previous 10 parts, but there are two major new features. First, the graphics have turned into 3D, although the perspective is based of 2.5 dimensions. Second, Mega Man can also use the Double Gear, by either slowing down time, or powering up his weaponry for short bursts.

The level design is a bit longer than veteran fans are used to, but the challenge is intact and is about the same as most of the parts, although it isn't the most difficult by any means. Enemy design is faithful and new, the Robot Masters have a fun order of weaknesses, and their weaponry are diverse and useful.

All of the boss battles have a Double Gear feature, which basically means that they will empower themselves with new attack moves for a short while, making the fights more interesting. To compensate for this, Light's lab is a shop where items will assist you.

The only disappointment for me personally is that the soundtrack isn't quite as catchy or effective as most of the other entries. For example, Mega Man 9 and even 10 had more exciting tracks than this one, and it's a shame that Dr.Wily's latest fortress only uses 1 song.

Other than that, Mega Man 11 is a very good addition, and I honestly did not expect them to continue with the classic series like this. I hope that Capcom will consider a sequel towards one of the sub series, or innovate with the franchise, next time.
