Home Alone

#1164:

Oh boy, this is a classic recent one from my childhood. It’s been so long, so let’s watch it again!

Kevin, a cute but misunderstood child of a large family gets accidentally left behind home alone while the rest is off to Paris. During the solidarity, Kevin enjoys his freedom, but also encounters 2 clumsy burglars who really want to break in, but the child continues to fool them at first.

Kevin also has nightmares about an oven and a scary neighbor rumored to have killed people. Home Alone is a family comedy with the family being largely absent during the movie, but the comedy is golden.

I just love that Kevin eventually starts using brilliant traps to keep the burglars away from inside. But other than that what defined the movie, there is of course the usual Christmas traditions here and there as well, such as forgiving your family and friends, religious themes, being with each other and having a great time.

Combined with the traps, this makes for quite an alternate Christmas movie. Who says it needs to be traditional all the time?
