Two Point Hospital

Amidst the global corona virus outbreak, I decided to play a modern take on a classic hospital simulation; Theme Hospital was addictive and fun 20 years ago, but while I play Two Point Hospital now, it's better in every way.

Let me give the rundown about the premise; you are assigned as the hospital manager, and you are responsible for constructing the design of the various health care departments, it's staff people, resources, finances and much more across several hospitals over the country.

Sounds boring? The good news is that this game much like it's spiritual predecessor, is humorous by design. As you attempt to accomplish the various objectives in order to clear the level and go on, perhaps the most fun comes from discovering new silly illnesses, treating them, and eventually successfully curing the patients.

These diseases can range from rock star syndrome and having an 8-bit appearance, towards having turtle heads because of shy behavior, and having a jest infection, letting them mimic and behave as clowns.

Having to get admitted towards a hospital by appointment is for most people, not the most fun to be found in real life. In Two Point Hospital however, the sheer presentation, design and humor make it a lot of fun to manage.

Managing is definitely the main gameplay that you will undertake here. The first few levels will let you get known towards how to play the game, but eventually, later stages will give you more difficult challenges so that you will have to manage your finances carefully as to what to invest in, before having to take a loan for emergency situations.

Aside from curing patients, which is the main goal in general, as you construct different kinds of rooms such as staff, diagnosis, pharmacy and surgery rooms, you are also able to make research rooms to learn and design new operation rooms, launch campaign in marketing rooms, let your staff study new skills in training rooms and create food & beverage in a cafeteria.

Two Point Hospital is a nostalgic trip for me, but also a modern take that plays very fluent, responsive, user friendly and entertaining. Former members of Bullfrog Productions also worked on the game, and they were also known for famous 90's games such as Theme Park, Magic Carpet, Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper.
